A Course in Miracles: Lesson 344

Lesson 344

Today I learn the law of love; that what I give my brother is my gift to me.

“This is Your law, my Father, not my own.  I have not understood what giving means, and thought to save what I desired for myself alone.  And as I looked upon the treasure that I thought I had, I found an empty place where nothing ever was or is or will be.  Who can share a dream?  And what can an illusion offer me?  Yet he whom I forgive will give me gifts beyond the worth of anything on earth.  Let my forgiven brothers fill my store with Heaven’s treasures, which alone are real.  Thus is the law of love fulfilled.  And thus Your Son arises and returns to You” (ACIM Lesson 344 1:1-9).

What we give to another, we also give to ourselves.  If you desire compassion, gift compassion to others.  If you desire understanding, gift understanding.  If you desire love, give the gift of love abundantly.  As we learned in Lesson 126, “All that I give is given to myself,” it is in our giving that we receive.

It takes holy vision to see that our brothers and sisters do not need to prove anything for our peace and love.  No one has to earn love or prove he or she is worthy of our love.  It is in our spiritual maturity as the living Christ that we bestow total love upon our fellow angels, even when their worldly actions seem suspect.  The law of love thrives in a forgiven heart, as it gives freely of itself and sees no distinction between giving and receiving, knowing both are one in the same.

True release and relief from an insane world comes from fully liberating it.  To the mind, that seems opposite of what needs to happen, as the ego wants justice and retribution.  Yet the Heart knows no such actions are necessary, as it knows perfection IS as perfection does.  Thus, wait on no one to change to extend what flows through you so freely and naturally.  The world owes you nothing.  However, you have the power to give the world everything and in return so you shall receive.  You lose absolutely nothing in giving.

Want your cup to runneth over?  Fill it up by filling up the world with love, love, and more love.  Here’s to the law of love fulfilled in You.  Namaste.
