A Course in Miracles: Lesson 321

Lesson 321

Father, my freedom is in You alone.

“I did not understand what made me free, nor what my freedom is, nor where to look to find it.  Father, I have searched in vain until I heard Your Voice directing me.  Now I would guide myself no more.  For I have neither made nor understood the way to find my freedom.  But I trust in You.  You Who endowed me with my freedom as Your holy Son will not be lost to me.  Your Voice directs me, and the way to You is opening and clear to me at last.  Father, my freedom is in You alone.  Father, it is my will that I return” (ACIM Lesson 321 1:1-9).

Freedom has never felt so good.  In admitting that we never really knew what freedom was we create the spaciousness that comes with the release of judgments, roles, and all limiting definitions.  We come wholly (holy) open to allow God to show us what real freedom means.  This is where all spiritual rebels shine, as we abide in God’s Love and Law.  As the quote from leader of the rival gang to the T-Birds in the 1978 classic, Grease, says to Danny Zuko (John Travolta) right before the car race, “The rules are their ain’t no rules.”

We might not be in a car race, or any race for that matter, but what Balmudo utters is true.  The Will of God is pure freedom; the only limits we have are the ones we place on ourselves, which are mostly done out of fear of our own power.  Yet, we have explored deep within throughout our Walk in Miracles to realize that nothing evil is lurking inside us, only love.  And when Love meets Freedom, only goodness, only Heaven, came come forth.

Also, in the movie, Grease, the leading lady, Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) has her own exploration of freedom as she mingles with the Pink Ladies and starts to loosen her image.  She is a great depiction of how we play with releasing some of the chains we place on ourselves as she leaves the sensible skirts and blouses behind for the tight leather pants and form-fitting outfit at the end of the movie.  She evolves as a rebel in her own way, just as well all do.

Exploring true freedom can seem very rebellious to a confirming world fixed on rules, regulations, terms, and conditions.  Yet today God guides you to explore your holy rebel side and your holy freedom.  As you taste it, it might just lead you to say, “More, More, More,” words also sung by fellow holy rebel angel, Billy Idol, in his song, Rebel Yell.  Who says all angels must wear white and have feathered wings?  Some may come ready to rock and roll, and instead of wings, have a guitar full of strings…

Freedom is SEEING the holy in everything from the rock to the roll, from the Danny Zukos to Sandra Dee’s of the world.  That is the beauty of claiming our divine creative nature.  That is the beauty of the word, “YES!”  Bathe in this sense of freedom and its holy waters.  It feels oh so good.  Let God show you that there is…More, More, More…

Namaste.
