A Course in Miracles: Lesson 310

Lesson 310

In fearlessness and love I spend today.

“This day, my Father, would I spend with You, as You have chosen all my days should be.  And what I will experience is not of time at all.  The joy that comes to me is not of days nor hours, for it comes from Heaven to Your Son.  This day will be Your sweet reminder to remember You, Your gracious calling to Your holy Son, the sign Your grace has come to me, and that it is Your Will I be set free today” (ACIM Lesson 310 1:1-4).

Take a moment.  Look around you.  Exactly where you are, just as you are, you are resting in the participation of the breathing Christ with God.  All the breaths you take, all the steps you take, you take in holy communion with God.  This is why we are never alone, this is why Heaven is only a sweet remembrance away, for God is the best kind of stalker, a Holy One, whose presence is ever-present.

Every Breath You Take, a song written by Sting, performed by The Police in the 80’s, was written about a lover’s obsession and jealousy.  Over the years many have considered this song to be a, “stalker’s anthem.”  Yes, it can surely be taken that way.  However, let us look at this song from the perspective of our Holy Stalker, noticing the truth between the lyrics where one can hear this song as, “Your sweet reminder to remember You…” (ACIM Lesson 310 1:4).  Take the beginning verses for instance,

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I’ll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I’ll be watching you

This paints a beautiful picture of how our holiest of stalkers assures us we are comforted in every breath, every action, every perceived “missed” step, every day in time, every uttered word, every game in life, and even in every moment where we choose to explore the dark night of the soul,…She is watching us.  Yet as we know, She is not just watching us but holding us, guiding us, and comforting us.  There is no separation at all, reminding us that we can rest in each breath with Her in fearless and love.  We can trust, let go, and fall into our Savior’s arms.  With courage, can we claim all of our steps to be in love, leaving no room for what was known as fear.

“There is no room in us for fear today, for we have welcomed love into our hearts” (ACIM Lesson 310 2:4).

We need not stay in the cycle of lonely cold nights, creating space for fear.  Her warm embrace holds us always.  If you refer once again to later verses in Sting’s song of a Holy Stalker, you can imagine placing yourself in the melody, reflecting on those dark nights of the soul where you thought separation was real, wondering, “Where is God?”  Singing,

Since you’ve gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it’s you I can’t replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby, please

Yes, we have looked around long enough trying to replace a love that need not be replaced, as it never could be, and as there was never a vacancy to begin with.  And as is promised, always, after our surrender, our plea, we are answered with the assured lyrics,

Oh can’t you see
You belong to me
My poor heart aches
With every step you take
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I’ll be watching you
Every…

The ending of the song says it all with the lingering, “Every…”  Love is in Every…thing.  When we remember Who participates in this world with us, it is impossible to have any room for fear.  Even in what we created as the separation, God was still loving us and watching us.  Our holiness and our perfection were always honored.  God, indeed, has been our Holy Stalker.

If you choose, take a moment and listen to this holy, obsessive anthem.  Close your eyes and listen to the words as we have discussed, as a love song between you and Source, a song releasing the separation and recognizing the Holy Union. Take the words of the Sacred Stalker to heart and in fearlessness and love, walk with Her.  Acknowledge Her presence in Every…thing.  When you feel and see such love, indeed, there is no room for anything else.  Namaste.
