A Course in Miracles: Lesson 302

Lesson 302

Where darkness was I look upon the light.

“Father, our eyes are opening at last.  Your holy world awaits us, as our sight is finally restored and we can see.  We thought we suffered.  But we had forgot the Son whom You created.  Now we see that darkness is our own imagining, and light is there for us to look upon.  Christ’s vision changes darkness into light, for fear must disappear when love has come.  Let me forgive Your holy world today, that I may look upon its holiness and understand it but reflects my own (ACIM Lesson 302 1:1-7).

The momentum of illusion can be overwhelmingly subtle, leaving you swept away by its sly nature and only realizing until much later, when you are in the midst of suffering, fear, or drama, that you had, for a moment, turned away from the sun (Son).  We are now at the point in our journey where we are delicately fine turning our ability to witness those subtle moments before any darkness has a chance to catch us off guard.  We are becoming vigilant for any shadows in our consciousness in need of Light.

Reflect on this practice, as you wake each morning, before you open your eyes, what is the very first thought you are aware of?  Is it of Light?  Is there already a tape playing in your head regarding the upcoming day and all its potential activities?  Have you woken up with a soft lull of fear playing over your entire energetic field?  This is a practice to help us become more aware of the flow of stories that could sweep us away.  It is helping us catch any moments that try to cast a shadow upon the next, blocking out the Light.

As we continue our Walk in Miracles, the sun is no longer at our backs making our shadows seem long, massive, and as though they are casting darkness over the entire landscape. Walking towards the sun (Son), our shadow gets smaller and smaller, as the Holy Presence gets bigger and bigger, until its Light finally takes up the entire vista.  To make sure this is so, our Creator gladly guides us and shows areas where we are focusing on our shadow rather than our Light.  She sweetly highLIGHTS areas in our consciousness that is still in need of the Truth.

Today, we vigilantly look upon our inner scape for the cast of any subtle shadow.  We show up to each moment, asking ourselves, where do I have the opportunity to turn darkness into Light?  We mindfully do this until the scale is tipped and all we know is Light.  We can recognize darkness, because we have been there before, however, now we watch it from above as Light is shone upon it, releasing its reactive hold on our being.  God walks besides us and whispers, “Dear One, let there be Light.”  And it is so.

Namaste.
