Lesson 252
The Son of God is my Identity.
“Father, You know my true Identity. Reveal It now to me who am Your Son, that I may waken to the truth in You, and know that Heaven is restored to me” (ACIM Lesson 252 2:1-2).
It is tough to put our magnificence into words. It is far more convincing when experienced. It is a sentient notion that can only come through true holy communion. Yet, the words of the Course in today’s lesson does quite a fine job of exploring what it means to live in our true Identity.
“My Self is holy beyond all the thoughts of holiness of which I now conceive. Its shimmering and perfect purity is far more brilliant than is any light that I have ever looked upon. Its love is limitless, with an intensity that holds all things within it, in the calm of quiet certainty. Its strength comes not from burning impulses which move the world, but from the boundless Love of God Himself. How far beyond this world my Self must be, and yet how near to me and close to God!” (ACIM Lesson 252 1:1-5).
Our small minds cannot fathom our level of perfection and limitlessness. To put this into context, imagine, for example, that you are preparing to take a journey. You make all the preparations in anticipation for what may arise: You pack what you need: You leave behind what you don’t: And in your mind you subtly create a vision for the potential unfoldment of your travels. Yet, what ends up transpiring as one journeys forth typically goes beyond any expectation or prediction. It is often much, much greater. Our holiness is very similar. We can anticipate what it will be like to live as our Godly Selves but until we allow our Supreme Nature to reveal Itself from within, it still remains a small morsel of our magnificence. We cannot foresee that which is beyond our limited vision. Thus, do we honor days like today when we abandon any notion we have of God and humbly rest in Her presence, accepting the revelation of our Identity.
Our Identity will be fully shown to us. It is too great to be missed. We stand in surprise and celebration as we merge with the power of God and our Identity. We give thanks that our True Self is beyond any notion of the small mind and welcome the calm and intensity of our limitless nature. Namaste.
