Lesson 67
Love created me like Itself.
Today’s statement is the remedy we all need. It is the healing balm that soothes our identification with mistaken identities. It is the answer to the question, who am I?
In our experiences with these words, we are no longer lost and roaming the world in search of another mistaken identity. We are Love. We are created to be Love. We are created to extend Love. It is a simplicity that puts the roaming heart at ease in its remembrance.
Indeed, we are our biggest bullies. There is no need to look for what we fear most outside ourselves, it resides within. It is our own belief in our self-loathing and self-deprecating thoughts that create our misguided notion that we are being attacked and something other than Love. Today is another step towards our salvation, as we are reminded that what we truly are is “unchanged and unchangeable in nature” (ACIM Lesson 67 2:1). No matter what we have mistaken ourselves to be, the Love we are is eternal and welcoming us Home.
“…reach past all your images and preconceptions about yourself to the truth in you. If Love created you like Itself, this Self must be you. And somewhere in your mind It is there for you to find” (ACIM Lesson 67 3:1-3).
Being created by Love, as Love, means that your existence in the world is significant. It is purposeful. It is grand. This means…
You are holy.
You are love.
You are enough.
You are abundant.
You are a Master.
You are kind.
You are helpful.
You are perfect.
You are known.
You are important.
You are Light.
The Course is correct when it says that this is a truth that we need to hear often, not just today but always. Our small minds are accustomed to running the show and are fueled by absorbing negative thoughts. How often have you felt that it is easier to believe the bad about yourself rather than the good? When someone pays you a compliment, you are quick to refute it? When we recognize this, we are basically saying that it is easier to believe lies over the truth. When it is put like that, aren’t you ready to claim the intelligent being of Love that you are instead of living a lie? Let today’s practice periods persuade you to retrain the mind towards the right-minded thoughts of love.
Today’s Truth is not only meant for you but for your fellow brothers and sisters, as well. These are special words given to ALL of us about our true identification. No one is left out of this. All are included. Thus, it is not a means to think we are more special than another or another is more special than us. This sort of thinking will easily become deflated because it is led only by the voice of ego in its search for specialness.
As we are encouraged to recall this knowing numerous times throughout the day, I encourage you to do the same with your brothers and sisters. At various times, recognize the Love that is your brother and sister. You can share this out loud or keep it to yourself. Where are the opportunities in which you can share this remembrance with your fellow Lights on earth? As you are reminding them of their true identity, you are doing so for yourself as well. Everyone wins!
Our remembrance that we are Love Itself is trusting in the Voice for God, the One calling us forward to who and what we are. No one is left out or left behind. We walk forward together as Love.
“This is the voice for God, reminding you of your Father and of your Self. This is the Voice of truth, replacing everything that the ego tells you about yourself with the simple truth about the Song of God. You were created by Love like Itself” (ACIM Lesson 67 6:2-4).
Listen to the beautiful Voice of God in your quiet time today. Listen to the Ultimate Truth She bestows upon you. Beyond any earthly roles, you are Love. Our experience on this earth is only our means to see how our Love can shine through these vessels in various ways. Let us all be as we were created to be, as Love Itself, no matter where we roam and no matter what the form. It is Love.
