A Course in Miracles: Lesson 11

Lesson 11

My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world.

After yesterday’s internal work, we open our eyes to greet a new world in front of us.  A world in which we recognize that our thoughts create our experience.  We have been told to watch our thoughts and to choose the good ones.  Why?  Because they become our destiny and shape the lives that we live.  This idea comes from a notable quote from Ghandi,

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”

By recognizing that we look upon a meaningless world created by our meaningless thoughts we begin to release our attachment to what we see in the world.  We also can understand that if our thoughts are meaningless, not harmful, then the world we see also must be harmless.  The lesson for today “contains the foundation for the peace, relaxation and freedom from worry that we are trying to achieve (ACIM Lesson 11 3:4).”  The peace we begin to develop in the mind begins to project outward to our surroundings.

This is why our beliefs, our thoughts, are so powerful.  They can either make us believe we are imprisoned or free.  Science is even beginning to show us this as well.

“The revolution of scientific understanding suggests that from our personal health and relationships to global war and peace, the reality of our lives is nothing more and nothing less than our ‘belief waves’ shaping the quantum stuff that everything is made from.  It’s all related to what we accept about our world, our capabilities, our limits, and ourselves (Braden xii).”

No longer do find that “seeing is believing” but more so “believing is seeing.”  We take another step away from victimhood and release the power we think the world has on us.  Today we practice living in a world that does not determine our experience but is met by the mastery that we are the ones who determine the world that we see and our relationship to it.

We step deeper and deeper into what is Real and waking from the matrix.  Of course, today’s theme goes perfectly with the plot of the movie with just that title, The Matrix.  The journey of Neo, with the initial help of Morpheus, begins to awaken from the dream state he is living in, his life, the matrix.  There are many correlations with a spiritual journey and the movie the Matrix and most any spiritual text can be used in compendium along with the movie.  For our case today, we will say that this lesson can directly relate to Neo’s initial awakening and meeting with Morpheus.  It is though the words of today’s lesson our spoken to us by Morpheus while giving us the choice to choose the red pill or blue pill, Truth or Illusion.

As we begin to peek behind the veil, we learn the most important part of the journey is our decision to take engage in it.  No one does this for us, not even the Course, not even Morpheus for Neo.  As Morpheus says “you must see for yourself.”  The journey we take to seeing what is Real is taken with our own eyes and Sacred Sight.  That is what makes these practice periods so powerful.  It is with our experience that we know what Truth is and, from there, embodying it.  Someone may tell you that what you see is only a projection but until you experience it for yourself, the Truth will always be a bit empty and something that you have to memorize or remember.  The Course is teaching us to know the Truth deep within and to live from that place of knowing.  The Course is more than just intellectually knowing a statement or two but living it, breathing it, experiencing it.  That is the peace and freedom from worry that A Course in Miracles offers

Enjoy the practice periods today as it is your journey in the remembrance of who and what you truly are.  A Truth only you can know, experience, and claim.

As I close today, I add a clip from The Matrix.  What will you choose the red pill or blue?  Truth or Illusion?

Namaste.
