Lesson 131
No one can fail who seeks to reach the truth.
There is much relief into today’s statement as regardless how much we believe we have stumbled and fumbled on our course home, the end is close and sure. Today a light is shown upon the hallway in which we stand. For lifetimes we have journeyed this hallway choosing door after door to finally see the golden door that lies directly in front of us. Behind this door lies exactly what we hoped for while choosing other doors and coming up, yet again, empty-handed.
Our mind can be put at ease as we are led to experience the perfection that has been our course. No matter where we roamed, we never left our Light, Our Love, or Our Creator. We have not messed anything up nor could we. Let these words speak to your worried heart,
You cannot fail.
You cannot do anything wrong.
You cannot miss out on anything.
You can’t be late for anything.
You can’t miss a step.
You cannot, NOT, be part of the awakening.
We have merely been God pretending not to be God, yet that is what we came here for. How can God experience Herself without being given lessons to display Her Godliness? In the text portion of A Course in Miracles there is a beautiful description of just this in section entitled, The “Hero” of the Dream,
“Into eternity, where all is one, there crept a tiny, mad idea, at which the Son of God remembered not to laugh. In his forgetting did the thought become a serious idea, and possible of both accomplishment [the separation happened] and real effects” (ACIM Text Chapter 27.VIII.6:2-3).
Our souls merely decided to innocently forget so as to enjoy the experience of what it would be like think our lives were dire and diabolical situations. We tricked ourselves thinking that the Answer was hidden from us, when the Answer was us all along. The search, although feeling prolonged, was purposeful as we searched to search no more.
“Yet searching is inevitable here. For this you came, and you will surely do the thing you came for. But the world can not dictate the goal for which you search, unless you give it power to do so. Otherwise, you still are free to choose a goal that lies beyond the world and every worldly thought, and one that comes to you from an idea relinquished yet remembered, old yet new; an echo of a heritage forgot, yet holding everything you really want” (ACIM Lesson 131 3:1-4).
If mastering forgetfulness was our aim, I would say we have been successful, yes? But no harm was done. Now all is undone and we are free to celebrate, laugh, and claim what has never changed, Our Divinity. How could something so perfect do imperfect, permanently? It is like hell trying to be heaven, it is impossible. We find today that behind all that we have chosen, we have remained holy untouched and that we have been part of the greatest magic trick, ever. The angle truly never fell from Heaven.
“No one remains in hell, for no one can abandon his Creator, nor affect His perfect, timeless and unchanging Love. You will find Heaven. Everything you seek but this will fall away. Yet not because it has been taken from you. It will go because you do not want it. You will reach the goal you really want as certainly as God created you in sinlessness” (ACIM Lesson 131 5:1-6).
“He thus denies himself, and contradicts what has no opposite. He thinks he made a hell opposing heaven, and believes that he abides in what does not exist, while Heaven is the place he cannot find” (ACIM Lesson 131 9:3-4).
Today, we are offered, what the Course calls, the holy instant, a realization that transcends any illusion of space and time. It is a truth so True that it can only be found in the present, which is the only place we can ever truly abide. In the holy instant do we receive the Heaven we have been searching for. In our practice periods, we hand our minds over to God to let Her show us the perfection of our journey and that our search is, indeed, should we choose, over. We allow Her to place in our mind’s eye what is beyond that which we see. We are sure to be lovingly guided to a treasure trove that was never fully closed and only awaiting our return.
“Then let them [thoughts] go, and sink below them to the holy place where they can enter not. There is a door beneath them in your mind, which you could not completely lock to hide what lies beyond” (ACIM Lesson 131 11:7-8).
As we stand in the hallway of Heaven, with gratitude we can bless each door on our right and left as we walk up to the golden door at the end. Each door as guided us to this moment. Each door, in its disguise, has been nothing but perfect. And now, once upon this door, we arrive right on time. NOW. We are never a moment too soon or a moment too late as no matter what we do, it is always perfect.
“This is a day of gladness, for we come to the appointed time and place where you will find the goal of all your searching here, and all the seeking of the world, which end together as you pass beyond the door” (ACIM Lesson 131 14:5).
Rejoice! The cosmic magic trick has been faithfully revealed. It is a mirror that shows Truth and the reflection is You. From this point forward, at any time you feel dismayed or discouraged on the journey or start to wonder why you are here, always come back to these words that the Course gives us at the end of today’s lesson. Let them remind you of your never-ending, never-ceasing, never-failing perfection. You are here to find truth, and truth you shall find. Namaste.
“Today I seek and find all that I want.
My single purpose offers it to me.
No one can fail who seeks to reach the truth”
(ACIM Lesson 131 15:5-7).
