Lesson 224
God is my Father, and He loves His Son.
“My Name, O Father, still is known to You. I have forgotten it, and do not know where I am going, who I am, or what it is I do. Remind me, Father, now, for I am weary of the world I see. Reveal what You would have me see instead.”
(ACIM Lesson 224 2:1-4).
Today, we are graced, once more, with the experience of our safety. The safety that we have never left Heaven and the safety that our True Image has never been touched or tarnished. Again, there is no need for forgiveness, penance, or reconciliation. It has already been done, as its only purpose was to correct the mind. As miracle workers, we have merely been shifting our perception around the experience we decided to have. We have discovered that we simply put on masks and abided in a longer Halloween than usual. Sometimes we played the prince and princess, other times we played the scary villain or the martyr. Yet, underneath it all, our Light could not be hidden. Our Identity could not be altered.
In Lesson 224, we are gladly told that “…Heaven looks to [Us] to give it light” (1:1). Can you imagine, Heaven looking to Us to give it light? Sit with this for a moment, it is Us that lights Heaven, not the other way around. That is how magnificent and miraculous we are, We Light Heaven!
“My true identity is so secure, so lofty, sinless, glorious and great, wholly beneficent and free from guilt, that Heaven looks to It to give it light. It lights the world as well. It is the gift my Father gave to me; the one as well I give to the world” (ACIM Lesson 224 1:1-3).
Humbly, we acknowledge our Light, the Light that lights Heaven, as we let God speak to us of our purpose. We abandon any identities, masks, and roles, and let our Light unite with our Creator. It is She who directs how we shall give It to the world. We recognize that we truly do not know what the next moment shall bring or where we shall step, go or lay our heads. We rest in the mystery of ALL.
Although our Identity is known, how it shall flow forth is only unfolded moment by moment. Truly, we cannot even guess how the flow of Force shall move through us. In this, can you feel how safe you are in the abandonment of any expectation or outcome? It is another spiritual dichotomy, knowing that we are Known, while at the same time knowing that we move in mystery? This can be a threatening place to be, in particular in a world that likes to control. Yet, this is the purest and safest place we can honesty abide. There is a statement in the text that discusses the Truth of the mystery we live in.
“There is no statement that the world is more afraid to hear than this:
I do not know the thing I am, and therefore do not know what I am doing, where I am, or how to look upon the world or on myself” (ACIM Text 31.V.17:6-7).
The beauty of life, honestly, is that we do not know. If you really let yourself be honest, you would agree that you love the mystery. It is in the mystery where the miracles seem to appear. It is in the mystery where we discover how safe and held we truly are. It is in the mystery that we experience the comfort that comes when we fall into a state of abandon, colliding with our True Nature, a love that surpasses anything this world could offer.
As you experience the safety of your Identity, you also gift this to others. As you abide in peace and love, you extend the invitation for those around you to do the same. It is as if you have jumped into a pool and are playing joyfully while others stand on the side thinking the water is too cold. You call out to them, “Come on in! The water’s warm!” They see your joy, your comfort, and your warmth, and decide, “If she’s okay, then I’m sure I’ll be okay. I’ll give it a try.” You show by your experience, that is what makes all the difference. How you live is your miracle calling card to the world.
As you rest in silence and listen to the Voice of God speak of your safety and Identity, feel the Presence around you. As you go about your day, feel this force field of love that encapsulates you. And as you engage with others, notice your own reflection of Light, the Light that lights Heaven. Namaste.
