Lesson 234
Father, today I am Your Son again.
“We thank You, Father, that we cannot lose the memory of You and of Your Love. We recognize our safety, and give thanks for all the gifts You have bestowed on us, for all the loving help we receive, for Your eternal patience, and the Word which You have given us that we are saved”
(ACIM Lesson 234 2:1-2).
Perhaps it has felt like lifetimes upon lifetimes since you have really known God and that you have traveled longer than that to get back to Her. Maybe it feels as though this journey in miracles has been arduous and has taken ages, making you feel, at times, no closer to your Comforter than you did on Lesson 1. Such is the spiritual journey analyzed by the human mind. The human mind judges distance and time. However, as a student of the Course, recall that we are familiar with the Holy Instant, that moment of salvation that is less than a breath away because it already IS.
The At-One-Ment need not take long, only your awareness. Today’s lesson reminds us that, “Merely a tiny instant has elapsed between eternity and timelessness. So brief the interval there was no lapse in continuity, nor break in thoughts which are forever unified as one” (ACIM Lesson 234 1:3). It may feel like you have been working on this “spiritual thing,” for birthday upon birthday, but in Reality, it has only been less than a breath. And that is all it takes to return. We do not have to keep waiting for another big day in time and then the next, expecting some big “Guy in the Sky” to come down and say, “BAM! You are saved and I don you angel among angels.” That surely sounds nice to the ego because the ego wants you keep waiting in order to live out all the crazy and mad ideas that you can in that time of delay. Yet Mrs. Holy Herself, You, knows all too well that She is only a Holy Instant of Remembrance away.
How long do you want to keep waiting? Lesson 234 brings us to the moment of our pure peace. There are no terms and conditions or any special waiting period, unless you would have it be so. In our practice today, we experience wearing the holy robe of true Identity. You are the Daughter of God. You are the Son of God. We are the Children of God. Although, the heading in our lesson says, “again,” we have never left our post. We just took a nap while we sat peacefully next to the “Right Hand of the Father.” In our slumber, this has been our dream. All we have to do is wake up and we will see the Light. Are you ready?
