Lesson 278
If I am bound, my Father is not free.
“Father I ask for nothing but the truth. I have had many foolish thoughts about myself and my creation, and have brought a dream of fear into my mind. Today, would not dream. I choose the way to You instead of madness and instead of fear. For truth is safe, and only love is sure (ACIM Lesson 278 2:1-5).
Limitation, as we experience in the Course, means that we cannot just limit certain aspects of our lives and not others. We cannot just limit one person and not another. When one believes in bondage, even just a little, one is not aligned with Love, with Truth. It is the pinky left out of heaven. Thus, are we called today to witness how binding oneself, the Son or Daughter of God, also binds our Creator. What we place upon ourselves, we also place upon the whole.
We know in Truth that our Mother-Father God is an unlimited Source, however we are free to create a maddening scenario where we can great a god that is limiting, fearful, and spiteful. The key that unlocks the door to our expansive existence and that unlocks the maddening world is the phrase in the previous sentence, “”We are free to create…” We are the ones with the key. Lesson 278 encourages us to look very closely at our limitations and how it relates to our connection to Source. How are we choosing to create our experience? How are we using our Divinity, to create limitations or to witness Truth? We must have the courage to see where we may fear not only the power of God but also the power that lies within ourselves, should we decide to live fully as Christ, because this means there may be changes in our lives as we come to truly know ourselves.
“If I am bound in any way, I do not know my Father or my Self” (ACIM Lesson 278 1:3).
We are approaching a point in our lessons where we have no choice but to “walk the talk.” We are starting to experience a Truth that we can no longer hide from. Of course, we are free to hide from it but if we do, we now would live in a world of illusion and know it is so. And that is a tough spot to be in, knowing that you know Truth but are choosing not to abide there. Why not save the angst and just dive into freedom?
Free yourself and you free the world, the Universe, and all of Creation, including the Creator. Today, experience what it is like to completely free Love. In various ways throughout the day, experience what it is like to no longer put restrictions on God, your job, your physical location, your fellow brothers and sisters, and yourself. Let Love show you how wonderful it can truly be without the man-made nonsense of our crazy limitations. Namaste.
