A Course in Miracles: Lesson 300

Lesson 300

Only an instant does this world endure.

“We seek Your holy world today.  For we, Your loving Songs, have lost our way a while.  But we have listened to Your Voice, and learned exactly what to do to be restored to Heaven and our true Identity.  And we give thanks today the world endures but for an instant.  We would go beyond that tiny instant to eternity” (ACIM Lesson 300 2:1-5).

As we come to a close on the section, “What is the Real World?” we reflect that the world we created can endure for only a tiny instant.  It has been a cloud held in the blue sky of peace.  Whether day or night, the sky is always there, even behind the clouds.  This is a depiction of our certainty and an example of our eternal divine nature.

“Yet this is also the idea that lets no false perception keep us in its hold, nor represent more than a passing cloud upon a sky eternally serene” (ACIM Lesson 300 1:2).

Today we experience what the Course calls a “Holy Instant,” the instantaneous moment of remembrance.  That is why it need not take long or any effort.  We are not learning anything new or memorizing any special “awakening formulas.”  There is no need for hocus-pocus.  We are simply recalling what we already know and uncovering the World we truly abide in.

Our holiness has always been seen and held by our Creator.  To Her, our forgetfulness never happened, to us, it was only a moment.  In this we give thanks, as our divinity was never tarnished or altered, only guarded by Her Who created it.  In your moments of reflection, smile on your eternal nature, which you can reach in a holy instant.  Allow Her to come forward and shine the Real World upon you, as you.  Namaste.
