A Course in Miracles: Lesson 304

Lesson 304

Let not my world obscure the sight of Christ.

“You lead me from the darkness to the light; from sin to holiness.  Let me forgive, and thus receive salvation for the world.  It is Your gift, my Father, given me to offer to Your holy Son, that he may find again the memory of You, and of Your Son as You created him” (ACIM Lesson 304 2:1-3).

Love Is ALL Around.  These four words are inspired by one of my favorite opening lines for the movie, Love Actually, where the Prime Minister, played by Hugh Grant, states:

“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.”

And so it is, Love Is ALL Around.  However, it is up to us to see that it is so.  Our lesson today states, “Perception is a mirror, not a fact” (ACIM Lesson 304 1:3).  How you view the world around you is a glimpse into your state of being.  Do you see a world of hatred and greed?  Or do you see a world where love actually is, all around?

Even in forgetful moments, when we choose to see a world in trouble, God still leaves us little clues and signs on the highway of life, giving us an “exit ramp” towards remembering our perfection.  We are always part of the holy conversation that is taking place around us, whether that be at an airport, gazing out your front window, at work, in the car, or in the store, God is always speaking to us.  If we think She is not, we are just not paying attention to it.

Take for example, in the review periods for our Walk in Miracles and Part II of our lessons, each day has included a picture in which I took based upon the conversation the Holy Spirit was having with me as I was merely walking down the street.  When I first started to notice this constant communion known as our conversation, I almost could not believe its regularity and precision for how it was relating to my daily journey in life.  For confirmation of my sanity in this conversation with God, the Holy Spirit directed me to start taking pictures of this cosmic dialogue and thus, this is what I share with you on a daily basis now.  I say this to bring across the question, how does God communicate with you throughout the day?  Is it in dreams, pictures, movies, music, painting, writing, etc.?  Have you claimed this communication as your divine conversation with the Holy?  I invite you to do so, as I did, and to take consistent note of it, somehow, and let this be your proof that even in what appears to be chaos, God is sending you signs of holy vision and birthright.

“And I will look upon the certain signs that all my sins have been forgiven me” (ACIM Lessons 304 1:6).

Also, accompanying the movie, Love Actually, is a spoof on the song by The Troggs, Love Is All Around.  This musical number reminds us, too, that we are never left without a message of our pure perfection because love is, indeed, all around.  If you attune to it, you can truly feel it wherever you go, from your fingers to your toes.

I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes
Love is all around me and so the feeling grows
It’s written on the wind, it’s everywhere I go
So if you really love me, come on and let it show

The messages we are given are morels of our remembrance, taking many, many forms in order to gain our attention; from movies to music and everything in between.  Today, look beyond obscurity to the clear messages of love, peace, and perfection that are around you.  The eyes of Christ will catch the sign and direct it right your Heart.  Perhaps today, put a sign upon your awareness to let God know, “I AM OPEN FOR HOLY BUSINESS.”  Because that is all you have to be, OPEN, to see that Love Is ALL Around.  Namaste.
