Lesson 320
My Father gives all power unto me.
“Your Will can do all things in me, and then extend to all the world as well through me. There is no limit on Your Will. And so all power has been given to Your Son” (ACIM Lesson 320 2:1-3).
No words could be said better than the first two lines of today’s lesson:
“The Son of God is limitless. There are no limits on his strength, his peace, his joy, nor any attributes his Father gave in his creation” (ACIM Lesson 320 1:1-2).
Have you ever marveled at the resilience of humanity and of the human body? You need only search the internet for a moment and you will encounter many heroic stories of the brilliance of our nature, sometimes surpassing what science would tell us is possible. The sky, indeed, is not the limit. The only limits we have are the ones we place upon ourselves when we deny our power and Light, while instead claiming the smallness we created. And even within that, we are still using our limitless power to trick ourselves into believing we are not Light, that we are not God. If we are powerful enough to do that, are we not powerful enough to claim our limitless nature? Recall from Lesson 76, “I am under no law but God’s,” which guarantees us the Holy Instant, that in a moment we can remember our divinity and abide in its boundless holy waters. The key is to release all judgments of what we think we have or have not done, what we couldn’t or shouldn’t do, and predicting what any outcome should look.
God’s limitlessness infuses our entire being to make all things possible, if we but only get out of Its way for It to move through us. When I am in need of remembering the power that is given unto me, I think of the song, “Defying Gravity,” from the Broadway play, Wicked. Talk about limitless; the powerful voice of Idina Menzel truly brings the power of these words to life:
Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I’m through with playing by the rules
Of someone else’s game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It’s time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes… and leap!
It’s time to try
Defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I am defying gravity
And you wont bring me down!
That is the point of today, to defy the limits, to defy the judgments, and to defy all notions smallness. Your Light is ready to shine for the entire world to see. There is no need to hide behind your creations any more. It is time to claim your divinity and the power that was given unto you. Defy All, Dear One. That is what you were meant to do. The power you have been looking for all along, reside right here within you. Breathe into it and touch it. You are there. There are no limits to what you can do. Namaste.
