Lesson 322
I can give up but what was never real.
Father, to You all sacrifice remains forever inconceivable. And so I cannot sacrifice except in dreams. As You created me, I can give up nothing You gave me. What You did not give has no reality. What loss can I anticipate except the loss of fear, and the return of love into my mind?” (ACIM Lesson 322 2:1-5)
We have nothing to lose and only everything to gain. We only give up what we have painstakingly been trying to keep, our illusions: roles, masks, and created identities. We merely let go of what we have created with an insane mind and trade it in for a sane one. It is like trading in a used car for a shiny new one. We may feel nostalgic for the old car, the memories, and a time long past, but nothing can replace that nice new car smell, the safety, and the upgraded amenities. Letting go of our illusions is also like telling a child that there is no boogie monster under her bed. It is a brilliant use of her creativity to invent such a thing but claiming our creative nature in Her Holy Name is realizing there is no death or fear, rather only an eternity to procure.
“I sacrifice illusions; nothing more” (ACIM Lesson 322 1:1).
Releasing illusions and stepping into our divinity is likened to a computer upgrade to Holy 1.8 (Oneness and Infinity (Allness). We give up nothing while gaining everything. We recognize that what we have been painstaking grasping on to has only placed a thin veil between our Creator and us. Once the veil has fallen an enormous amount of Light shines through. We have been playing hide and seek from ourselves. It is now time we are found.
“And every dream serves only to conceal the Self which is God’s only Son, the likeness of Himself, the Holy One Who still abides in Him forever, as He still abides in me” (ACIM Lesson 322 1:4).
God would never ask you to give up anything. That is part of the deal of free will. However, God so intelligently knows that what She has to offer is beyond anything we could create on our own. Thus, today, create something Real with Her. Step into the sandbox of life see what sort of magnificent sand castles You Two can create. Go BIG! In doing so, you have nothing to lose and only everything to gain. Namaste.
