A Course in Miracles: Lesson 325

Lesson 325

All things I think I see reflect ideas.

“Our Father, Your ideas reflect the truth, and mine apart from Yours but make up dreams.  Let me behold what only Yours reflect, for Yours and Yours alone establish truth” (ACIM Lesson 325 2:1-2).

We are presented once more with the principle of cause and effect in terms of our vision, with the understanding that believing is seeing.  This cascading process from “thought to sight” cannot be stated more clearly than as described in the first lines of today’s lesson:

“This is salvation’s keynote:  What I see reflects a process in my mind, which starts with my idea of what I want.  From there, the mind makes up an image of the thing the mind desires, judges valuable, and therefore seeks to find.  These images are then projected outward, looked upon, esteemed as real and guarded as one’s own”  (ACIM Lesson 325 1:1-3).

Following the above statement, let us, now, take a moment and compare it with the opening lines in Lesson 15, “My thoughts are images that I have made.”

“It is because the thoughts you think you think appear as images that you do not recognize them as nothing.  You think you think them, and so you think you see them.  This is how your “seeing” was made”  (ACIM Lesson 15 1:1-3)

Similar, yes?  Do you remember when you first read those words in Lesson 15?  Are you aware of how much your Sight has expanded since those early days, which were only a breath ago?  It is true, we have journey far, while at the same time not far at all.  The process of sight has not been something we have had to learn but rather something we have chosen to remember.  We have dared to look at the world and say, “There must be more than this.”  And with that same courage we turned our gaze inward to where true sight begins, with our thoughts.  We have walked mercifully through insanity, judgments, grudges, and guilt with the pure intention to truly See.  We have taken responsibility for the power of our divinity and perfection and have now chosen to create our Sight from the platform of Truth.

“From insane wishes comes an insane world.  From judgment comes a world condemned.  And from forgiving thoughts a gently world comes forth, with mercy for the holy Son of God, to offer him a kindly home where he can rest a while before he journeys on, and help his brothers walk ahead with him, and find the way to Heaven and to God” (ACIM Lesson 325 1:4-6).

Once more, the question may arise regarding how to view traumatic events or horrific circumstances.  I encourage you, and myself, to look very, very closely at the situation in question, but not with the body’s eyes, rather with the Heart.  As a dear soul once asked me, “How would God see this?” a beautiful question that creates a pause of perfection to help God’s sight reclaim our vision.  Everything your five sense take in, even beyond that, are all creations of God.  Can you SEE the love in it ALL?

Today, continue to let the world be your teacher and allow it to show you where your thoughts lie, with love or fear.  If you were God, which You are, how would God look at the world around You?  Let this be your true north and your means of ascension.  In doing so, you not only transform Your Sight but that of your brothers and sisters as well.  Your Sight helps us all remember, as the Creation you create IS our Creation too.  Namaste.
