Lesson 45
God is the Mind with which I think.
Today is a relief. Here I was thinking I was a crazy person all along with all these crazy, mad thoughts in my head. Come to find out, that my real thoughts are thought with the Mind of God.
“Nothing that you think are your real thoughts resemble you real thoughts in any respect (ACIM Lesson 45 1:4).”
“You think with the Mind of God. Therefore you share your thoughts with Him, as He shares His with you. They are the same thoughts, because they are thought by the same Mind (ACIM Lesson 45 2:1-3).”
So, if my thoughts are not crazy, really, then where can I find these real, sane thoughts? In the last few lessons we have been previed to the fact that we are not separate from Source. Thus, these glorious thoughts that we share must be in us somewhere, no?
“We will have to look for them in your mind, because that is where they are. They must still be there, because they cannot have left their source. What is thought by the Mind of God is eternal, being part of creation (ACIM Lesson 45 3:3-5).”
In a different set of words, I feel like today we are connecting with our Soul Contract, as Caroline Myss, Ph.D. would describe it. The Divine plan as to What We Are and Why We Are Here. This is what we truly created with the Mind of God, our perfect existence. Our practice periods today are our glimpse into the holy Mind that created this particular experience known as our life, our decision to awaken and rejoin with the Mind of God. It is the awareness of the imprint that our soul left upon us. A code written on our cosmic heart just for us to find on this particular day as we journey within, diving under the waves of senseless thoughts.
“Under all the senseless thoughts and mad ideas with which you have cluttered up your mind are the thoughts that you thought with God in the beginning. They are there in your mind now, completely unchanged. They will always be in your mind, exactly as they always were. Everything you have thought since then will change, but the foundation on which it rests is wholly changeless (ACIM Lesson 45 7:1-4).”
Today may seem like you are reaching very far but we truly travel nowhere at all. The step we make within is really no step at all but more so a choice to remember.
In the last few lessons we have done many exercises clarifying our Sacred Sight. Sometimes as this work progresses we can feel clogged around our energetic vision areas such as the third-eye or the crown chakra, our area of intuition. In addition to the practice periods it may be helpful to massage the third-eye region, the space between your eyebrows. It is also helpful to lightly massage the scalp of the crown of the head. If you have one of those brain ticklers, a wire device that expands around your head as you massage, that is also a wonderful tool. It is also beneficial to just gently swipe through the air around the energetic body of those two areas. Just be careful not to hit yourself.
There is also another great method used in Ayurvedic medicine called the Shirodhara treatment. This is where you lie down on a massage table and the Ayurvedic practitioner puts an apparatus over your head that gently and timely drips warm oils over the top of your head. It is a very tranquil experience and one that definitely helps clear the mind. When I hear of this treatment these words always come to mind: “And He anointed her head with oil…”
These suggestions are just that, suggestions. We need nothing in order to go within to a place that is always accessible to us. These other methods are just hints in case you feel the body or mind really resisting. Often relaxation techniques such as these can help the ego integrate a bit more peacefully.
No matter how these last few lessons have sat with you, isn’t it comforting to know that our thoughts thought with the Mind of God are right where we left them? It is us who have hidden from them all this time, not the other way around yet it can feel that way. And for this I am very grateful and share in the gratitude our practice period offers us today as I “thank Him for the thoughts He is thinking with [me] (ACIM Lesson 45 9:4).”
We are in gratitude because we were never crazy. The only crazy thought we had was that we thought we were crazy. Here’s to the Mind of God…
Namaste.
