Lesson 76
I am under no laws but God’s.
This is why forgiveness happens in an instant, because under God’s law nothing need not take any time nor take any effort. The way is simple, easy, and effortless. She is but waiting up on our arrival.
“The idea for today tells you once again how simple is salvation. Look for it where it waits for you, and there it will be found. Look nowhere else, for it is nowhere else” (ACIM Lesson 76 2:3-4).
The world tells you that you need to suffer long and hard and that anything worth having will require such. Too often have we played the game of “hard to get.” We say we are sick of the game but are we really? How often do we give up striving to be given something with ease and then miss the hunt and chase we used to play? Are you ready to give up the insanity of the game? If so, today’s lesson is for you.
Nothing of this world will ever satisfy what you truly long for. No amount of education, letters behind your name, new cars, or new cities, will ever compare to what God is offering for free. We even think if we make a shrine of our bodies, we will at last be fulfilled. We often look at the other bodies around us and think, “I want what that body has. I hope I don’t get the disease that body is suffering with. How do I live where that body lives?” We have fallen for that trick of separation too many times. Today we let go of the fruitless attempts and ideas to make the body safe, which have only held us captive.
“Your magic has no meaning. What it is meant to save does not exist. Only what it is meant to hide will save you” (ACIM Lesson 76 6:3-5).
We are an advanced civilization with the advantage of many technologies and inventions but all of that still pales in comparison to the power of God. Medicine can only do so much and is not a guaranteed solution to a problem of the body. Technology, too, is limiting and is only wonderful when it works, which at best we can say is most of the time. All of our technology and knowledge are wonderful tools to help prolong life and help make life a little easier. They are useful and we should take advantage of them but not to the extent that they help us to fall asleep to what is real. Can we use them in service to the One rather than replacements for the One? Can we free our mind from our little gods and give it to the One God?
The magic we have created has its boundaries and limitations. God, on the other hand, is not limiting. God works all the time. God is guaranteed.
“Magic imprisons, but the laws of God make free. The light has come because there are no laws but His” (ACIM Lesson 76 7:5-6).
Today we look at all the magical laws we created. We notice very quickly how they are all “mental laws,” mere concepts that we have bought into as word and bond. Nothing is written down and there are no literal shackles around our ankles to show us where we are imprisoned. We must go deep into the mind to see where we are holding ourselves captive. We even look at places where we have created the mistaken concept of a limiting God.
In a book by Paula D’Arcy called Gift of the Red Bird, Paula discusses how she awakened from the God of her childhood that she now realizes was limiting:
“The God of my childhood required sacrifice and the denial of feelings. But what if that dictate was misguided and needs to be expanded? Something inside me knows that’s the case and that it’s time. Something calls me to get to the God of my maturity and to let the God of my childhood grow” (77).
We become part of Paula’s journey today as we, too, connect to a more expansive God. This God is a limitless, bottomless, eternal energy that knows only the act of love and of giving.
“Dismiss all foolish magical beliefs today, and hold you mind in silent readiness to hear the Voice That speaks the truth to you. You will be listening to the One Who says there is no loss under the laws of God. Payment is neither given nor received. Exchange cannot be made; there are no substitutes, and nothing is replaced y something else. God’s laws forever give and never take” (ACIM Lesson 76 9:2-6).
Under God’s law, there is not loss. No loss of body. No loss of friendship. No loss of money. No loss of trust. No loss of time. There is truly only gain. Can you imagine such a heaven?
“Let us today open God’s channels to Him, and let His Will extend through us to Him. Thus is creation endlessly increased. His Voice will speak of this to us, as well as of the joys of Heaven which His laws keep limitless forever” (ACIM Lesson 76 11:1-3).
We are upon a new earth and a new dimension of consciousness is awakening within us. We are the trailblazers of Light. We are the rebels for Light. We intuitively knew there was a better way and that the laws of the world, although helpful in keeping us safe and functioning as a collective, are not the real laws that govern our hearts, our souls, our spirits, nor the real world in which we are becoming a part of.
If we abide in God’s law this is of no consequence to the world, truly. We loose nothing. We only gain eternity. Once we recognize we are under the limitless law of God, there truly is nothing we cannot do. We can create world peace. We can forgive in an instant. We can heal, levitate, or teletransport the body. We can create heaven on earth. Anything is possible for a channel of God.
Today is your invitation to think outside the box. To let go of the limitations you placed upon yourself. To let go of any limiting God you have created. And with this new open space in the mind, imagine what miracles can come in and do with such a gift?
