Lesson 77
I am entitled to miracles.
At the beginning of the text in A Course in Miracles, in Chapter 1, there is an entire section dedicated to The Meaning of Miracles. This part of the text would be great to read in combination with our lesson for today to clarify any questions on miracles. In Principles of Miracles it is stated,
“Miracles rearrange perception and place all levels in true perspective” (24:1).
Miracles are a correction in thinking. Miracles are the shift from thoughts of hell to heaven. Miracles are the realization of Truth. With miracles, anything can happen: forgiveness, overcoming death, healing, etc. As you are One with God, there are no limitations to what you can do,
“Miracles do not obey the laws of this world. They merely follow from the laws of God” (ACIM Lesson 77 4:4-5).
Miracles require an open mind. A non-attached mind. I heard a story, recently, told by energy healer, Roselyn Bruyere, that explains this concept of having an open mind as one is shown miracles. Roselyn was asked to do energy healing on patients in a burn unit for an LA area hospital. In this particular instance, she was working on three severe cases. As she placed her hands over the treated victims, she began to think, “If I am pure energy, then why couldn’t I make new skin cells?” As she held this thought, the corresponding vibrations were leaving her hands and joining with the energy field of the burn victims. She told her audience, “I did not try to manipulate the energy as one typically tries to do. As I was facilitating a healing, I did not think, ‘I am making new skin cells. I see new skin cells on these patients. I see these patients with their original skin.'” To Roselyn, she felt she had to leave room for energy to do its work. She had to leave room for possibility and potentiality. She had to leave room for a miracle. She had to step aside and let the miracle work through her without trying to control it or manipulate it or tell it what to do. In her question, “If am pure energy, then why could I make new skin cells?” she humbly and knowingly, left her mind open to whatever possibility should come. She knew that because she is pure energy and is a conduit for the Creator, anything could happen. She let go of her idea of what an outcome should be and once the bandages were removed weeks later, most of the patients had radically regenerated their skin cells, which to the doctor was next to impossible for their level of trauma to the skin.
“There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not “harder” or “bigger” than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal” (ACIM Text Chapter 1, I. Principles of Miracles, 1:1-4).
There is no order to miracles, not one more worthy than another. When we are aligned to God’s Will they are our birthright. Similar to the example of Roselyn Bruyere, we do not have to manipulate or try to control the outcome of a miracle. If we feel the need to do that, it only means that we are in doubt the God will move in a miraculous way,
“There is no room for doubt and uncertainty today” (ACIM Lesson 77 6:5).
“Ask for them whenever a situation arises in which they are called for. You will recognize these situations. And since you are not relying on yourself to find the miracle, you are fully entitled to receive it whenever you ask” (ACIM Lesson 77 7:4-6).
Today, we open ourselves to miracles. We do not state how they must come but we witness how they present themselves to us. And should you have a request for a specific miracle today, in our stillness do we ask and watch how the miracle unfolds without any effort or worry on our part. We need only ask.
Happy Miracles! Namaste.
